We set sail off Matthew Town at 7am for what we though would be a trip to Conception Island, but a couple of hours of sailing showed we we’re much faster than expected so we moved our destination on to Georgetown on Great Exuma Island and hope to arrive around noon.
This is our first downwind sail of the season and what a difference it is when you may give up some easting. During the day we actually rested instead of getting tired so we’re well set for the night. We have one small freighter called “El Shaddai” behind us who we saw arriving at Matthew Town when we were leaving and they are finally taking us over in the next hour. We’ve seen 11 knots of speed over ground which is pretty good.
10 hours into the passage we came through the Mira Por Vos Passage which is just off Castle Island. Our next waypoint is off Clarence Town, Long Island and we should arrive there somewhere between midnight and 1am. From there it’s a small 20 degree course change to port for the first waypoint for rounding Cape Santa Maria at the north end of Long Island.
